UGalilee Program - Study Abroad

Welcome to UGalilee Program

Launched in January 2009, UGalilee is the University of Miami (UM) study-abroad campus in Israel. It is located in Karmiel, a city in the center of the Galilee, where the countryside is the classroom.

The Spring semester-long program combines classroom lectures with field work. Students are enrolled in courses that are taught by UM and Israeli faculty. The focus of the program is the history, geography, archaeology, cultures and religions that evolved in the Galilee over the ages. The periods of the Mishna (Rabbinic Judaism) and early Christianity are emphasized.

After successfully completing the semester, participating students will have earned 15 UM humanities and social science credits and a UM Judaic Studies Minor. UGalilee credits can also be used in partial fulfillment of the Minor in Jewish Education. The program is open to qualified students from UM and other universities.
